Cristina Fowler Chauvin is an associate in the firm’s New Orleans office.  She was born in New Orleans, LA, and is the daughter of managing partner George Fowler and Cristina Fowler, both Cuban refugees.  Ms. Chauvin grew up speaking Spanish at home as a second language. Her parent’s background has driven Ms. Chauvin’s interest in all things involving politics, Latin America and the water.

Ms. Chauvin has spearheaded several events in the community. She has been active in the New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s Azucar Ball since its inception in 1998.  This was a group created by her parents, both Cuban refugees, who wanted to give back to their community by awarding scholarships to children in need.

She sits on various boards throughout the community where she actively engages other professionals in political discussions. For example, Ms. Chauvin serves as Chair of the Transportation, Trade & Logistics Group of the ProsperityNOLA project. This group seeks to advance business and trade in Louisiana from Latin American Countries.

Additionally, she is active in the World Trade Center Government Affairs Committee where she has defended her stance that the embargo should not be lifted and that New Orleans should not participate in Charter flights to Cuba, as to not put money into the hands of a communist regime.

Mrs. Chauvin has worked on successful trial teams for cases involving the cruise industry for clients such as Carnival and Royal Caribbean.  She was part of a team that found defendant Rolls Royce guilty of fraud.

In 1999, she graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart with High Honors. In 2002, she participated in the Innsbruck Program, where she studied English Literature and Psychology as she traveled throughout Europe. In 2003, Ms. Chauvin received her B.A. in English from Tulane University.

In 2001, Ms. Chauvin attended the Tulane School of Architecture, where she received a minor degree in Architecture.  Throughout her time in Architecture School, Ms. Chauvin received recognition for her model-making skills and her hands-on involvement with Habitat for Humanity.  Her love of architecture has served as a catalyst to her strong interest in Construction Law.

Ms. Chauvin also specializes in admiralty and maritime law. She spent the summer of 2003 studying admiralty and maritime law in Rhodes and Spetsus Greece.  In 2007, Ms. Chauvin received her J.D. and an Admiralty and Maritime Certificate from the Tulane School of Law.
